In the last year, the world of sneakers has been full of countless collaborations. Nike, Jordan Brand, and Adidas have had a slue of different collaborations with different sneaker stores, clothing lines all throughout the year 2021 into 2022. But there is one brand that is able to stay under the extreme hype and collaborate with countless companies and creatives to make some of the best shoes that we have seen in the last few years. I will be unpacking some of the best collaborations that New Balance has come out within the last year or so along with what they have in store.

Joe FreshGoods

New Balance has always been known for being a producer of high-quality products from their craftsmanship, choice of leathers and suedes, and comfort. To the mainstream market, NB is not a. company that anybody is looking out for. But here and there NB makes sure to remind people that they are still heavy hitters in the world of shoes.

On September 9th of 2021 NB collaborated with one of the greatest up and coming creatives in the field of appeal Joe FreshGood for a second time and dropped a gem of an NB 999 named “Outside Clothes”. The hype that was created around this shoe blew away the sneaker community and quickly the shoe made it on the “Top Ten Sneakers of the Year List” from Complex News.

Salahe Bembury

New Balance did not only collaborate with one great black mind Like Joe Fresh Goods but they collaborated with another one in Salahe Bembury. Who is the head of footwear design for Versace who has many collaborations with other footwear brands. Who already had an awesome collaboration in 2020 with a model that was seen as dead (2020r) and brought them into being heavily sought after. This collab I would consider an honorable mention but it is more of part 2 to its orange counterpart from 2020.

In his second collaboration which encompasses the mixture of functionality and innovation, Salahe brought to us a completely new shape and use for the classic 574. He put his love of hiking and innovation and gave birth to the Yurt 574 which has a whistle attached to it for the instance that you get lost while hiking and need to be found.

To wrap off the year New Balance released a highly anticipated /nostalgic 2 shoe capsule with their classic 999 models. New Balances has yet to miss collaborating with ALD. This formula for success has worked in the past and it keeps on giving. ALD is ready to release a new capsule this year already with a classic basketball high-top 650R from New Balance that has already started a wave of hype and a line of consumers waiting on getting their hands on a pair.
